Patchouli

PATCHOULI graphic

Patchouli – Young Living

🌸 FUN FACTS 🌸

Derived from a large evergreen perennial, and related to the lavender and sage family, Patchouli has been prized for centuries for healing and beautifying the skin. The oil originated in southeast Asia and is extracted from the plant’s lightly fragrant leaves and the white, violet-marked flowers. Countless generations across the globe have used patchouli for a wide variety of needs. In ancient Rome, Romans, it was used to stimulate the appetite. In Egypt, King Tut arranged to have gallons of patchouli oil buried with him in his tomb. In Asia, people used it extensively for medicinal purposes- everything from treating skin bites to soothing headaches.

Nowadays, patchouli oil is used as a fragrance in skin and personal care products, potpourri, insect repellents, detergents and incense. Interestingly enough, patchouli is a major component of the fragrance industry, because it acts like a fine wine and it’s aroma gets better (and changes) with age!

🌸 WHAT IT DOES 🌸

Patchouli has a distinct floral and musky aroma which has somewhat of an acquired taste. However, many people who do not love its fragrance dat first, grow to love it as they experience its healing benefits, both to body and mind. Emotionally, patchouli oil is said to help relieve anxiety, stress and depression because of the impact it has on our hormones: Patchouli encourages the release of serotonin and dopamine, hormones that ease feelings of anger, anxiety and anxiousness. This is one reason why patchouli is often diffused (or incense burned) during prayer- it creates an atmosphere of tranquility.

Hormonally, patchouli also has the power to stimulate the libido and has been used as an aphrodisiac for centuries. It has also been proven effective for helping partners maintain physical ability during intimacy

Patchouli also stimulated muscle contractions (as opposed to other oils which do the reverse) so it aids skin and hair, stimulating the hair follicles and tightening the skin. It also is incredibly moisturizing and helps to encourage new cell growth, keeping the skin young and healthy. It works well on all skin types, whether dry or oils, to promote balance, so it’s a great oil for the scalp and the face.

Patchouli also is beneficial to the liver, stomach and intestines and it helps your body to process food and absorb nutrients effectively. It also acts as a stimulant to the bladder, increasing urination, helping your body to expel toxins effectively- this is beneficial to the gallbladder, liver and kidneys, which are the body’s filtration system. This oils is known as a toxins- digestor for the body.

At night, patchouli is extremely calming to the nervous system and the mind, so many people use it to promote a restful night sleep.

Another beautiful thing about patchouli is that bugs don’t tend to like it, so take your patchouli outdoors, when camping, or sitting on your porch. Many people add it to their laundry detergent or dryer balls as a natural shield against unwanted fly-bys.

Helichrysum is known as Immortelle, or the Everlasting Flower, possibly because of the way its essential oil can smooth the appearance of fine lines and uneven skin tone.  Its name,  “helichrysum” comes from Latin and Greek roots, meaning “gold spiral” due to its beautiful, golden blossoms. Forgiveness

Forgiveness graphic

Forgiveness- Young Living

❤️ FUN FACTS ❤️

The Young Living Forgiveness blend contains fifteen therapeutic grade, emotional oils that work in harmony to enhance the ability to release hurtful memories and move beyond emotional barriers. When we are lifted into a higher spiritual awareness, our frequency rises to the point where we are almost compelled to forgive, forget and let go. This is one major step in releasing emotional bondage from our lives. This blend has an extremely high (spiritual and emotional) frequency of 1942 MHz. To give you a comparison the human brain is 72-90 MHz and the body is 62-68 MHz.

Frequency is an indicator of the vibration and energy of food or even thoughts! For instance organic food has a higher vibration than conventional food. Processed food is 0 MHz; and studies have shown that just eating lower frequency foods can bring your overall frequency down! Essential Oils raise the vibrational level as soon as you smell them.

When the level of the essential oil is very high it helps us release things quicker by raising our spiritual awareness.

❤️ WHAT IT DOES ❤️

We forgive, not for the other person, but for ourselves.”  This is so we do not have to carry around the heavy burden that holding onto wrongs done to us can bear. And this burden takes a toll on our health, as science is now proving.

Psychologists and neurologists have been researching forgiveness and have concluded that the act of forgiveness is health-promoting for the forgiver.

Using essential oils, such as Young Living’s Forgiveness blend, has a direct influence on the brain because the sense of smell is the only sense directly wired to the brain. Olfactory nerves transport the aroma of essential oils to the limbic system and the olfactory sensory center at the base of the brain. The impulses are passed next between the pituitary and pineal gland and move to the amygdala, which is the memory center or fear and trauma. Healing and forgiveness can then take place.

❤️ WHAT’S IN IT ❤️

  • GERANIUM– helps with hormonal balance, liver and kidney functions, and the discharge of toxins from the liver that keep us from having balance.

  • ROSEWOOD– appeasing to the mind, relaxing to the body, creates a feeling of peace and gentleness

  • LAVENDER– oils of relaxation, traditionally known to balance the body and help wherever there is a need. Promotes consciousness, health, love, peace and a general sense of well-being

Grounding

Nature Drawing Green Tree Painting Gree River Dual Wallpaper

Grounding- Young Living

👣 FUN FACTS 👣

This blend of seven essential oils was specifically formulated to ground and balance our emotions. A high frequency oil, 140MHz is a spiritual oil that opens our hearts and minds to a higher state of being, so we don’t lose sight of what truly matters- hence we stay grounded and rooted in what is true.

👣 WHAT IT DOES 👣

This oil will stabilize and calm a person or animal on first application. This is a good oil for those who make poor choices in relationships, work or home because they simply are in denial of their own true reality. We can be easily excited about new ideas or want to escape into our own fantasy world. Or we imagine things about our circumstances that aren’t even true. When this happens, we allow our emotions to control us rather than making wise choices that will lead to desirable results. This blend helps calm the emotions, get us thinking clearly and deal with reality so we don’t get stuck and can’t move forward.

Removing an excess electrical charge from an object is called grounding.  Removing an excess emotional charge can also be a form of grounding.

Tree and root oils are wonderful to help you get reconnected.  If you picture the root system of a tree as an extension of your feet you’ll get a visual feel for what it means to be grounded as that root system anchors you to the earth.  Picture emotional energy/electricity coming from the earth up one leg and exiting out the other.  For me, being grounded does not mean “control”.  Instead, being grounded is letting things take its natural course.

👣 WHAT’S IN IT 👣

  • WHITE FIR– stimulates the mind while simultaneously allowing the body to relax, creating a feeling of grounding, anchoring and empowerment
  • SPRUCE– grounds the body, creating balance and the opening necessary to receive and give. Receives powerful energy exchange from growing under the Northern Lights
  • YLANG YLANG– helps balance male/ female energies so one can focus the mind and achieve better spiritual attunement. Helps restore feeling of self- love, confidence and peace
  • PINE– amazing for respiratory support, Pine helps improve circulation and soothes mental stress, relieves anxiety and revitalizes the entire body
  • CEDARWOOD
  • exceptionally high in sesquiterpenes, this oils oxygenate the brain and enhances spiritual awareness, communication with the Creator
  • ANGELICA – helps one release and let go of negative feelings
  • JUNIPER– evokes feelings of health, love and peace. It also helps to elevate one’s spiritual awareness

👣 IDEAS FOR USE – TOPICAL/AROMATIC 👣

  • Dilute and apply it directly behind the ears and on the wrists, nape, and temples to help you feel grounded and ready to face everyday decisions.
  • Apply it topically in the morning to help start your day with a healthy perspective.
  • Inhale it directly or add 2–4 drops to your bath for a warm, comforting aroma.
  • Use the calming, balancing aroma while practicing yoga, meditating, or deep breathing
  • Wear as a perfume or cologne
  • Diffuse while journaling to gather your thoughts and reel in your emotions during times of stress.
  • Inhale or diffuse When there are too many thoughts in your head and you have a hard time focusing.

Hyssop

HYSSOP graphic

Hyssop- Young Living

🌺 FUN FACTS 🌺

The perennial plant hyssop is native to the Mediterranean region and was considered a holy plant in biblical times.

The name, Hyssop,  actually means “holy herb.” It was used in rituals, teas, wound healing, and baths. David refers to hyssop in Psalm 51 as part of his repentant lament:

Cleanse me with hyssop, and I will be clean; wash me, and I will be whiter than snow.

During the time of the Romans, this herb was used against the plague, as a disinfectant and for treatment of minor infections. In some parts of the world, it had a spiritual function, and was believed to purify and “forgive sins.”1 Christianity held hyssop in high regard — the herb was cited as a symbol of baptism and reconciliation.2 In other religions, it is associated with purification. This is largely due to the miasma theory, the belief that scent chased away illness. Although that  isn’t exactly the mechanism of action, the idea was there and the application was effective.

When steam-distilled, the plant produces a very potent essential oil

🌺  WHAT IT DOES 🌺

Hyssop has been used since ancient times for nearly every ailment under the sun, from spiritual and emotional cleansing to boozing immunity and restoring health to patients. It helps to regulate menstrual flow, blood pressure and perspiration, as well as opening the airways, healing the skin and boosting immunity. Emotionally, hyssop has been said to clear the mind, alleviate nervous tension and generally overcome fatigue. This energy-inciting quality is one reason it has been administered to patients as it helps them overcome lethargy from being sick. Sometimes the best remedy is to get a patient moving again.

Hyssop has been studied intensively for it’s powerful properties, namely the way it interacts with viral cells and “disarms them,” The Bible also refers to hyssop and other plants as “bitter herbs” which were used to stimulate digestion and calm the digestive tract. Adding a few drops to a carrier oil can do wonders to promote relaxed muscles in any part of the body.

Emotionally and spiritually, Hyssop has long been used as a cleansing and purifying oil. The ancient Hebrews used it to chase away evil spirits. Hyssop was the plant the Lord commanded that the Israelites use to paint the lamb’s blood over their doorposts to ward off the Angel of Death in Egypt. See Exodus

Petitgrain

PETITGRAIN graphic

Petitgrain- Young Living

🍊 FUN FACTS 🍊

Petitgrain means “little grain” derives its name from the oil extraction- at one time it was pulled from the green, unripe oranges which were about the size of a cherry, instead of the leaves. Though steam distilled from the same botanical species as neroli and bitter orange, Petitgrain Essential Oil possesses its own characteristically unique aroma. Petitgrain Oil is distilled from the leaves and sometimes the twigs and branches of the tree whereas Neroli Essential Oil is distilled from the blossoms and Orange Essential Oil is typically cold pressed from the rinds of the fruits.Because if its pleasing scent, petitgrain has been used extensively in high-quality perfumes and cosmetics.

The ORAC value of petitgrain is 73,600 µTE/100g, compared to the highest, Clove, which is 1,078,700.

🍊 WHAT IT DOES 🍊

Petitgrain essential oil has traditionally been used to support a healthy nervous system—particularly with nervous stress and exhaustion. It may  improve instances of excessive perspiration. And support healthy skin and hair; particularly good for oily skin.

It is emotionally balancing and is very uplifting. This oil can help us release denial, avoidance and self judgment. Once these emotions are released we can see that we are using our emotional addictions to keep an a state of denial.

Petitgrain oil is about relinquishing self control and instilling self acceptance and love. It helps us be rather than do therefore it is helpful in easing panic and fear; and calming the body.

This oil can help us overcome addictions and compulsions. It releases denial, avoidance and self judgment. Once these emotions are released we can see that we are using our emotional addictions to keep an illusionary state.

This is fantastic oil for those who are always on the run (doing and work addiction) and will not take the time to address their emotional or spiritual path. As we know the addictive path is one of self destruction and burn out, because the physical body can not continue on this path 24 hours a day without repercussions.
